On October 15, 2026, the South Carolina State Ethics Commission issued SECAO2026-003 to make employers and employees aware of the laws regarding political contributions. 

In essence, these laws prohibit employers from requiring workers to make political contributions. 

For the benefit of their employees, and to uphold the integrity of the political process, we remind employers that they are required to follow these laws when engaging in otherwise lawful political activity.
